FOUNTAIN

FOUNTAIN (UNTITLED)

Eight water sprinklers, pumping system (submerged).

Dimensions: approx. 40m by 35m.

Public outdoor sculpture in Zeewolde, a town in the province of Flevoland, the Netherlands.

The province of Flevoland is renowned for its landscape and nature art; the most well-known art work is Sea Level by Richard Serra. This work, commissioned by the municipality of Zeewolde included the installment of eight water sprinklers periodically re-emerging from underneath the water level of a pond and synchronized to work together simultaneously for limited durations of time. Once the pumping of water ceased, the sprinklers reclined back into the water, disappearing all together from view.
